Motivational Quotes to Kick-Start Your Week

2013 March 4
by Marquita Herald

One of the most courageous things you can do is to know who you are, what you believe in and where you want to go. ~Sheila Murray Bethel

motivational quotesIt’s the first day of the week, and a new month, and for many of us this means an energizing time – a time for a fresh start on developing new habits or tackling a new set of goals.

Regardless where you find yourself on your personal growth scale today, it’s always nice to kick-start a new week with a little extra encouragement, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to share with you a few of my favorite motivational quotes.

There really is something quite profound about the effect quotations can have on us. It’s amazing what a mere string of words can do to touch our hearts and give us just that bit of extra courage.

Enjoy each and every day!

  • The two most important things I have learned are that you are as powerful and strong as you allow yourself to be, and that the most difficult part of any endeavor is taking the first step, making the first decision. ~Robyn Davidson
  • Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Appreciate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is. ~Mary Anne Racmacher

Nice motivational quotes for a nice starting of week. I liked the one which says that we should not try to describe ourselves to others. We know that we are the best and that is enough.
    Thanks for sharing.

“I know some things seem like they can’t be done. Everything is against you. Times like that you just have to will it and make it happen.”

I can’t remember the educator’s name who told me this many years ago. But I tried it and it worked more times than not.

    Hi Marty,
thank you so much for sharing these inspirational quotes.

I love the humor of some of them i.e. “couldn’t wait for success, so I went ahead without it.”

The one about not needing other people’s approval is well put.

    Much appreciated!

    Hi Marquita,

Thank you for such a wonderful collection of quotes..

I have always wondered what these great people would have to to tell the kids in the under developed and poverty stricken countries like Somalia..

Sometimes I wonder all inspiring bloggers including me are not trying to figure out solutions for bigger causes rather we are just giving our perceptions to the middle class people..What do you feel about this?

    • March 6, 2013

Welcome Rafi, and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Really could not tell you how any of the authors listed related to political, class, culture or socioeconomic issues – and it’s not the purpose of this blog to pursue answers to those questions. That said, personally I am an avid supporter of grass roots movements because I believe it’s far too easy to become overwhelmed with the enormous need in the world only to end up doing nothing – when in fact each of us can make an enormous difference in our own communities.

As far as your question for bloggers, I can only speak for myself. My purpose here is not to offer solutions to the world’s great causes, and I don’t write for any particular class of people – I write for those who are willing to roll up their sleeves and embrace the power they have to create their own best lives. Not sure I actually answered your question, but that’s my perspective. :-)

My quote will be the famous Robert Frost one – “The woods are lovely dark and deep, but I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep.”..

    Hi Marty,

I love it when you do inspirational quotes. The one that resonates so well with me is

“The true measure of success is how many times you can bounce back from failure.” ~Stephen Richards

How true is that? How many times have we “failed” and seen it as a lesson to take a new direction? I’m posting this on my computer to say every day.

Hey Donna, so glad you enjoyed the quotes. To be honest it was a spur of the moment thing because I had a post planned for tomorrow. Some of the messages I received over the weekend gave me the idea that a few motivational quotes might be appreciated today – so glad you agree :-)

  19. March 4, 2013

My preferred quote is: “If today you do what you did yesterday tomorrow you’ll be where you are today”.

But I also love, from Dale Carnegie, “If life gives you lemons make a lemonade”.

    Great post Marquita.
