Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential. ~John Maxwell

We all strive for success at something, and while there is no shortage of expert advice available to guide us along the way, it’s natural at some point to wonder whether there is some magic formula or a definitive set of skills to be mastered … in other words,

How are those who have ‘made it’ different from the rest of us mere mortals?

Is it positive attitude, assertiveness, good networking skills, self-confidence, superior focus …or maybe it’s just because their smart or lucky.

Well here’s your chance to find out. Analyst Richard St. John in this classic Ted Presentation has condensed years of interviews with hundreds of successful people into an un-missable 3-minute slideshow on the real secrets of success.

They work more? Really, it’s easy to blame it all on bad luck, genetics, circumstances, but the truth is that successful people work more. It might come easier to them, but that doesn’t change the facts.

Do you mind if I quote a couple of your articles as long as I provide credit and sources back to your webpage? My website is in the exact same area of interest as yours and my users would definitely benefit from some of the information you provide here. Please let me know if this ok with you. Many thanks!

Marquita, this video made me laugh! Thank you so much for this article! I think the 9th critical point is laughter. We all do have to persist through those failures but we have to learn to laugh at ourselves as well. Sometimes, getting over that shyness is by just doing it! This video truly hit home for me! God has blessed me with great people today. I look forward to continued valuable teachings.

Hi Richard, so glad you enjoyed the video – I had a good laugh myself, especially when it came to his definition of “CRAP” :-)

    Hi Marquita,
I really enjoyed the video you shared. I agree with Rupert Murdock, I work hard but I have fun with my work because it fuels my passion for helping others to achieve vibrant health. Serving others by providing something of value will help motivate you to continue and to be persistant in achieving your goals which will ultimately result in success. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Marquita, I never thought Rupert Murdoch would like to have fun, he always seemed pretty serious to me! And, I never thought Goldie Hawn would’ve had doubts about herself.

And, of course you have to persist through CRAP – Criticism, Rejection, Assholes and Pressure!

Loved it Marty, thanks for sharing with us. Regards from Julieanne

wow, loved it. Thanks for sharing Marquita. ‘Passion’ – I so agree that has to be the number ky ingredient. … ps, I love the term ‘work -a- frolic’. I know most entrepreneurs are addicted to their work and the only way you can be addicted long-term is because you LOVE it :)

    Hi!
A very nice post. I agree that we all want to be successful, and the same as the great quote you posted at the beginning, I agree that we all vary in our desires to reach our potential. Successful people really do everything to become successful, and nothing can stop them in their way.

Everything starts with positive attitude, which is something most of us lack. i like to think i’m in the middle with this, but it’s not good enough. To win, you have to see it, feel it, and go for it.

    Hi Marquita,

Great video about what successful people do differently from the rest of the population. We can learn a lot from successful people to get ideas on what we can do to provide value for other people.
